World Bird Wednesday - Noisy Miners

During a work trip to Brisbane I sneaked out at the end of the day for a walk. The park across the road had a number of Noisy Miners in it. Although the light was fading I was surprised at the images I managed to make.

In many places these birds are a bit of a pest – although they are native bird they can come to dominate areas and drive all the other birds off.

But whatever their status they brightened up an evening walk.

You can find more birds from around the world at World Bird Wednesday.

You can find the latest post to my other blog by clicking on the Paying Ready Attention picture on the RHS of the screen.

Enjoy the birds.

  2. We do not have miner birds here in the U.s. You have made me curious about what they sound like. I know starlings can be quite loud when they are in large flocks. Interesting bird. Not sure I like that it drives the others away. Do they quiet down at night?

  11. They are fun birds to watch and can be quite fearless to humans at times. Strangely there are none right around here. Great photos.

  12. You ended up with a couple of nice pics, Stewart. I am partial to noisy birds compared to those skulking around in the underbrush. At least you get to see and photograph them, always a plus!

  14. Hello Stewart M,
I came to Visit your Sky and discovered your Noisy Minor Post...

Short story... I'm caring for one. It is about 6weeks old now, and so affectionate and communicative.

What a treat to Visit and meet one being an adult and giving you a lot of pleasure.

    Wonderful unexpected moment.
Thank you from Magda and Family in Australia

  15. We don't have miner birds, but we do have other birds that can be obnoxious that way (starlings, grackles)...but yours are way more good looking.
